Film/TV

Donnie Darko Opening sequence.

This text appeals to me due to the slow-paced opening fitting in with the slow guitar non-music playing in the background. In addition , it starts off with a mysterious mood leaving the at diegetic mosphere tense and suspense high but this quickly changes, when the music tone changes to an upbeat song when the protagonist rides on the bike.

This suites with the uses and gratification list as it creates escapism as the location is in a huge wide forest in where it starts in, leaving their target audience engaged in an exotic area. Moreover, the mise-en-scene of the teenage in his sleeping clothes creates a clear personal identification to the audience. As, most teens who watch this can laugh with it creating entertainment and relate due to him doing teen hobbies like riding a bike. Also, his age is quite clear as a teen which creates more personal identification towards the audience. However, also conforming to the stereotype  of how mischievous or silly teenagers can be

Another way it suites the personal identification is that near the end it shows the family, it shows the peaceful mum reading her book, the cheerful sister playing around, the grumpy dad blowing his hover at someone face, and the sloppy dopey teen walking in his pj's. This can conform a stereotype towards a nuclear family and most likely create a personal identification towards other families.

The Walking Dead TrailerThe walking dead trailer appeals to me due to the fast paced scenes, the upbeat intense non-diegetic sounds and music and other diegetic sound such as gun shots, running and blood splattering. It also creates entertainment due to cataorism. This relieves stress as you see other people anger being realised out on killing the dead moreover, it creates gratitude. It creates gratitude as your glad to see a world of chaos and the living dead not real or being apart of it. Thus, leaving the target audience a touch of empathy due to the mayhem the characters have to go through. Which is all apart of personal identification, escapism and entertainment

Moreover, another way it creates personal identification is that the main character is a father. A loving father who tries to care for his family. Most fathers can relate to him as it shows the amount of stress is felt form being alone and losing your family creating even more empathy towards this protagonist.

E-Media
Skyrim

This video game appeals to me due to the vast amount of game play that is put in and countless hours. It creates escapism due to the fantasy world it is put in and how much things you can discover. Moreover, it soon become addicting as many people can escape from their boring everyday lives into this adventure.

Furthermore, it creates alot of anger-release  for the audience as there is alot of violence to be involved in such as, slaying massive dragons and the satisfaction of accomplishment from all the things you can achieve. This instantly promotes the entertainment that is involved. They also have  a huge target audience to please and alot of expectations which helps them follow the repetition and difference theory by using the same narrative in the ancient times, pleasing many fans.

Facebook.

Facebook is a website/social network used to connect people around the world. It creates social interaction which fits in well with the uses and gratification. It boost up self-esteem due to the usage of friends. Alot of people on face book make huge amount of friends or even thousands which can instantly boost up self-esteem.

Another way it boost up self-esteem is due to the like system, where people can like each other pictures. In other words, it is like complimenting the other person automatically boosting their self-esteem.

It can also create information due to the daily post by celebrities and news which can be used to inform the audience.

Magazine/Prints

Time
The Time magazine is quite an inspiration magazine as it subverts the stereotype of a black person as, it puts Barack Obama a black man; on the front cover on the magazine as he is the president. The uses and gratifications it conforms is the taste of information. Their audience will start to fill their brains with knowledge as they learn views from different perspectives.

In  additon , to the use of escapism as they read from so many different people 's views as middle or lower class people hear from the president himself

HeatHeat magazines are usually most about gossip within celebrities
life. Their target audience is teenagers and adults who are females which,
makes most females have escapism into celebrities life to those who are
lower or middle class.

Moreover, because of the gossip within celebrities also creates
information for the audience so they can have a social interaction
with their friends about life within the celebrity industry.

Furthermore, it creates entertainment to see flaws within celebrities
as heat magazines like to shame celebrities giving the audience
a satisfactory taste and boost of self-esteem.
